Trekking

Bhutan is a popular place for you to go trekking, though the treks are a little too difficult as there are no places to eat or stay in the higher regions, and that’s why it is advised to carry along all the camping and food equipments. The spring and autumn are the best seasons for going on a trek here, because in the summers the roads are too muddy to walk on and in winters they are snow covered.

Festivals

Tshechu is the biggest religious festivals in the whole of Bhutan, and the ceremonies that it has include the masked dance by the Buddhist monks. According to Buddhist philosophy, merely watching these dances is considered to be very sanctifying and an auspicious experience.

Archery

Archery is the national sport of Bhutan and you can witness competitions taking place throughout the nation, every weekend. Visitors are more than welcome to add some voice of cheering to the lively audience.

Biking

There can be no better way to explore a new place than on a bike. Bhutan’s small sleepy cities, vast spread wilderness, tiny roads, majestic views, rural farmlands and everything else is, much sweeter to experience on a bike. Though it is a little difficult to bike on a terrain as that of Himalayas, it takes an experienced and patient rider to successfully cruise the narrow mountainous roads.

Hot stone bath

This is an experience to be taken for sure as it is a ritual in itself. The rocks on the riverbank are heated red hot and are slowly dropped in to a wooden tub that is filled with the fresh river water and then the Artemisia leaves are scattered on it. The red hot rocks heat up the water slowly, thus realising necessary minerals into the water. These bath are traditionally done on a riverbank where there are plenty of rocks, and water, that too after it gets dark.
