Top 4 places to visit in Bhutan to learn more about its beauty

Bhutan is full of surprises. This is a nation where chillies are not just used for seasoning but are actually a dish in itself and the rice is red. Bhutan, despite protecting the Buddhist tradition, is not a museum. This is such a Buddhist land where monks surprisingly check their smartphones after carrying out a divination. Bhutanese are well educated, fun loving and also well informed of what is going on in the world around them. It's this unique blend of modern with the ancient that makes Bhutan a visit to remember for the lifetime. Below is a brief list of places you must consider including in your Bhutan tour packages from Mumbai:-

Taktshang Goemba

Miraculously resting on one side of a sheer cliff, 900m above the base of Paro Valley is the ‘Tiger’s Nest Monastery’ which is one of the most incredible sites of the Himalayas. Despite getting here requires a little too much of mounting legwork, it is the goal of almost every visitor to Bhutan, and it’s totally worth the effort. Sadly you won’t be allowed to take your belongings with you including your phones and cameras, but really, isn’t that how you enjoy such a beautiful place? Your guide should help you register with the army at the entrance. There are loads of stories you will be told here, and each of them is more fascinating than the other.

Haa to Chhuzom

Don't miss out on this beautiful road which is an alternative route while you are returning to Thimphu or Phuentsholing from Haa. This route offers a lot of barely touched sites you’d love, on the way.

Bumthang Dzongkhag

The Bumthang territory encompasses 4 prime valleys namely, Chokhor, Ura, Tang and Chhume. Because the most important temples and the dzongs are in the Chokhor Valley, it is commonly known as the Bumthang Valley. The meaning of the name of this place is derived from the belief that the valley is in the shape of Bump, the holy water vessel. and Thang means flat place or field. The lesser respectful version of the meaning of the this place’s name is that the Bum in Bumthang means the beautiful women of this place.

Weekend market

This weekend market is placed in the west bank of the Wang Chhu of Thimphu province of Bhutan. Vendors from different regions arrive on Thursday and stay until Sunday night for the market. You can get dried food items, discs of date (kind of soft cheese). You can also grab a bottle of wild honey collected from Southern Bhutan. You can also pick up some souvenir from the nearby handicrafts market. Don't forget to prepare yourself well in advance for this market before you leave for your Bhutan tour from Mumbai.
